The End of the Line
Global Ocean contributed moneys to support the outreach campaign attached to documentary film, 'The End of The Line'. The financial support was used to create a 25-minute version of the 90-minute film and was shown to schools and universities across Malta - a country where overexploitation of the tuna fishery is at its most severe. It was also screened globally in parliaments including the first ever joint party theatrical screening in the Australian parliament to the UN and to the UK parliament.

In addition, funds were used to support the ‘Save the Bluefin’ campaign, spearheaded by the film’s writer, Charles Clover. This campaign highlighted the need to get bluefin CITES red listed and secure a trade ban. Despite successes in the UK, this failed in the international arena due to efforts by Malta, Japan and others to continue their drive to commercially exploit this lucrative species.
