Melanie was educated at Gordonstoun and St Andrew's University, graduating in art history, social anthropology and law. With a life-long love of the oceans, she has worked for many of the world's leading environmental organizations. In 2006 she founded Global Ocean as a privately funded charitable foundation. She co-wrote a book about marine life titled, “Deep Water”, for UNEP, and is spends her time developing campaigns to help children inherit a healthy living ocean rich in biodiversity.
